" I just re-blocked him ,He's just a troll trying to use all this for publicity " -Quote from +Mike Elgan about me since I raised a stink about his post using my content and repackaging it as his which he later modified and now is not amused that everyone is not shutting up about it. Yep, so now I am the bad guy, the Troll, with no basis for my unfounded claims just lookin for some publicity. Your 260,000 followers may buy into that verbal diarrhea but others here do not.
I do not need publicity, I get it for free all the time, perhaps you should do a google news search for the past year, or 10 years and pull up all the front page articles about me and see, that I am not depending on +Mike Elgan to get any press, I have enough already. So the publicity thing will not fly here, stop trying to take the attention of of your actions and pass it off as un-warranted.
Yes +Mike Elgan just posted that on his page tonight, now I am wondering, will he block and silence other people who voice their negative opinions about his actions or who called him out as well about his deceptive and unethical behievor here on Google+ such as +Mike Stenger +Al Ebnereza +Brett Bjornsen +Renata Sherwin +Samantha Villenave +James Ezell +Hugo R. Martin +Vineet Tyagi +J Brown and so many others who speak out in disaproval of something that +Mike Elgan posts?
Seems like the case, maybe its best to just not call him out on things he does here cause he will delete your comments on his post and block you from making any further noise, since he does not like being interrupted while at work here on Google+. You might not want to upset him, he has to concentrate while he writes his fresh tech news articles about his discoveries here using Google+ technology !

What a douchecanoe.
This whole thing is stupid and we're all tired of "googling you"
Glad to know that +Carter Gibson speaks for all of Google+ now. That my friend is an awesome achievement indeed.
Okay. I think this whole thing is stupid and I'm tired of Googling you.
That's more like it +Carter Gibson
Then, why bother to post here, if you are tired with of this issue +Carter Gibson?
A post without dissent is a post not worth making.
I'm lost… I call the neutral party in this battle.
Yes +Carter Gibson if I was making you so tired and so irrelevant, then why fuel the fire of my content going viral by adding your post here?
+Carter Gibson , about how many times per day, on average, would you say you Google +Adam Guerbuez ? Just curious… you know… in the name of science
Yeah, but in your own words, "this whole thing is stupid" and you are tired of googling about the person involved. Confusing.
I got tired about Mike Elgan, so this is what I did: I uncircled the guy, and didn't commented in anything he posted. Done.
Something not that complicated.
because i thought you deserved to know. and youre smart, no question about that
This is an interesting topic, though. My understanding of the "community" standards here on G+ is that if you see something someone posted, and think it's neat, you should share it, rather than just cut and paste the link. That way, all the discussion around the post can happen in one spot, and people can +1 the original poster, who can get some credit for their curation.
To do otherwise seems a bit douchey, but whatever, I guess. Life goes on, eventually people will get tired of the people who post their their finds without attribution, and will block the offenders. Or not. It happened to me today, in fact. First time I've noticed it, but when I asked the person about it, they were really rude, so I let it go.
… and +Carter Gibson 's good peeps. I'm just sure he's just as tired of the content wars here on G+. People are tired of seeing stuff stolen, people are tired of people bitching about stolen stuff (I mean really, who gives a fuck who posted what cat gif first on the interwebs, it's all rehashed bullshit from 1992). I still think Elgan out of line for taking anyone's screenshot, dumping it in his post of miraculous discoveries (shit that's 5+ months past due… I mean c'mon, for a tech guy, he sure is late to the plate a lot). He's even late to the great content debate that raged on here months ago… really… it's like 90yr old discovering microwave popcorn for the first time and hailing it as a victory… it's sad really.
btw, +Mike Elgan has me blocked… I had a busy day today… did I respond to anything of his? I don't remember… I was trying to, but was too busy and I think I abandoned it till I could get home and think about it. Pretty fucked to just blanket block anyone that's been near this subject… what a fucknugget. (and I don't use that term lightly).
+Carter Gibson no question indeed, never was a matter of question, perhaps you can learn a thing or two from my actions on how to make things happen and keep them alive and viral.
…..lol.
Who is +Mike Elgan ? Prior to all this I had never heard of him – I checked out his page to find that he has me circled! WTF??? Me thinks he's gone through a lot of +Adam Guerbuez content and now is attempting to be a master spy…. poor unimaginative boy! I figure that I'll be blocked after this post. Good for you +Adam Guerbuez for standing up for your rights.
Oh so +Brett Bjornsen you are saying that +Mike Elgan blocked you now too? So I was right once again, he is blocking anyone that tries to expose his wrongdoings. This in itself is grounds for a nice fresh and new viral debate to unveil right here on my page.
I wonder how many others he blocked to silence them as well.
Awesome indeed. The much needed fuel has arrived now this is just the icing on the cake.
Ya, I have to view his shit in-cognito or I get 404's… I haven't even
begun totroll his posts and he blocked me just for being within 5 miles of this issue… weaksauce old dude…+Ian Tuck I am sorry that you too had to go through someone ripping/repackaging your content and misleading their audience at your expense. This seems to be more and more popular now not only with textual content but a lot with photographers getting their creations repackaged and spread around with no credit and no respect.
I think I am blocked as well, but who cares. I blocked him at the beginning of this controversy…
Well thank you kindly +Karen Prior , I must warn you however, showing so much support for me may get a lot of people to dislike you and post negative things about you and even ban/block you as you can see has already started to happen. See +Mike Elgan has over 260,000 followers here on google+ just waiting to be spoon fed his every word and then he has all his readers of the articles he writes online and in print in very well respected publications.
I am just a "troll looking for publicity" as +Mike Elgan tells his 260,000 plus followers and the rest of the people who follow him on and off of google.
Thoughts?
+Johnny Graterol Guevara I am not surprised.
I think +Carter Gibson is right; gotta have some dissent. Makes things interesting. So, with that in mind….
I'll admit, +Adam Guerbuez, before today, I'd never heard of you. I had seen some of the stories about a spammer who had been sued for some absurd amount by Facebook. While I found it really funny that they thought somehow that'd be a great idea, the story didn't interest me enough to go digging deeper than that, so I never knew your name.
I follow +Mike Elgan, having discovered him in the early days of G+. He posts interesting content. While I don't agree with everything he says (particularly when he drinks a bit more of Apple's Kool-Aid than my stomach could tolerate), he posts enough fascinating content earn a follow from me.
As far as this particular situation is concerned, I agree with you about the screenshot. Not sure where Mike got it from in the first place (screencaps have a habit of getting around quite quickly), but given that it was from a Hangout, he had to have known that it came from someone here that wasn't him, and a Google image search could have probably answered that question prior to him using it. Now, when it was brought up by some of your followers (including your sister, if I'm not mistaken), he did, well, the only thing he really could at that point, namely, attributed the picture to you, and later at your request, removed it entirely.
So, that part is what it is, and it's done. Could have been handled better at the outset, but is what it is.
The second part, regarding the discovery of the fact that one can join a Hangout on the same log-in via different devices…come on, man. I'd understand to a certain degree if you had personally coded that feature into G+, but what you did, if I'm reading things correctly, is find out about it, and then later, when Mike discovered it as well, you wanted credit for it. Isn't that kind of…ridiculous? That'd be akin to me finding a particular glitch/bug in Skyrim and then demanding credit for its discovery whenever someone spoke of it.
If I'm missing something here, please let me know, because while I do see your first point as I've laid out here, your second is silly to the point of absurdity.
+DeAno Jackson lemme clear up the air here. +Mike Elgan is a tech writer, for Computerworld among other well respected news sources. He along with other journalists/writers is no stranger to "research" when writing an article. He obviously did some reasearch to find my photo that he attached to his post, correct, yes indeed.
Now, here is where it gets interesting. The photo used was published here on google plus and on a blog that +Carter Gibson writes for called plus headlines back in August of this year http://plusheadlines.com/cops-google-hangout-style-a-police-scanner-hangouts-and-a-car/959/ . Now take a look at the article that goes with that photo, ahh yes all about my "mobile hangout" stuff I was doing back then. But of course +Mike Elgan missed the article that was attached to that pic but wait a second, that pic is relevant to "taking hangouts from home to on the road" among other things that added substance to the article.
This pic was used in Elgan's post about multiple session loging in to accounts here and taking things mobile etc etc, all relative and my pic fit in real nice indeed. Now, as a respected journalist/writer would do his research on such an interesting matter, he would easily find posts/discussions here on google+ and through searches, videos on youtube etc of me doing exactly what he wrote about, his discovery as he called it.
Are we all to believe that he did zero research into such ground breaking news that he was so compelled to share with his 265,000 followers here ? Really? Seriously now if that is the defense here , we may as well laugh our asses off at everyone's expense. Keep in mind here, the man is a respected tech writer for well respected news sources, not just some chump making small talk or random commentary.
The intelligent and couragous among us have called him out on this matter, only for several of us to bet banned and blocked from voicing our opinions on Elgan's page/posts/comments. +DeAno Jackson Do you still need yet more clarity on what has happened here?
If you +DeAno Jackson still believe that my claims along with the claims of many others who called +Mike Elgan out about this behavior are still hard to understand, then I can not help change your mind, it is locked on believing not what is concrete but what is comforting to believe.
I see no need to justify anything more on this matter, it is crystal clear and more then enough people see it for what it is and have voiced their concern about it and support for my bringing it to the attention of as many people as possible thought this medium.
I just find it funny, that if Mike Elgan has you circled, he conveniently "discovers" something new that you posted about months ago… seeing as there's numerous occurrences of these "miraculous discoveries that sprouted from nowhere". Things that are such old news on this service that Elgan has been around for… if he's really on top of things, why wasn't he reporting or finding any of this 6 months ago?
+Adam Guerbuez: That's all well and good, but what Mike was talking about in that post had very little, if anything, to do with a mobile Hangout. That post was mainly talking about the fact that one could join the same Hangout via the same account multiple times via different devices (for example, a desktop, a laptop, and a Galaxy Nexus) simultaneously. Which isn't something I'm seeing mentioned in that article there.
So, I guess I'm still a bit confused.
+DeAno Jackson , I do agree that it wasn't geared toward mobile… I'm also not going to argue a point of "who made the discovery first". The thing that makes me find Elgan to be a bit of a joke is, for a "tech" guy with 250k followers, he sure is behind the curve on finding new features.
If he'd prefaced the article with "hey, this is probably old news, but I didn't know you could sign in from multiple devices. Did you know that? If not here's how I did it". As a tech person, I find these kinds of technological epiphanies 6 months into the service as laughable, and not worthy of anyone to really follow him for. I mean, if you rely on Elgan to keep you up to date on tech, you're going to be far behind on things going on here on this service and elsewhere.
I personally don't know the guy… I had him circled because people said he was big in tech… I didn't pay close enough attention till recently, but it seems he's big in old tech … /shrug
The fact that he blanketed blocks out across the board is pretty sad… Not that I care really… it just means there's no risk of him jumping into any hangouts I'm in.
+Brett Bjornsen: Yeah, the blocks seem to be a bit much. As I said earlier, I don't agree with everything the guy says, but the content he posts are often times interesting. I agree that someone who thinks they've legitimately 'discovered' something after a service/product has been on the market for a certain amount of time is downright hilarious ("Hey, did you know that you could put things into folders on the PS3? It's a new feature!" Me: "Yeah, that I've used since 2008. *facepalms*). Having said that, I sure as hell was unaware of it before Mike's post, and I've been here since July.
+Mike Elgan has removed the post he made from his page upon request. I am glad that he chose to comply.
+DeAno Jackson , and I'm sure you're not the only one of his many followers who were unaware of that feature, so it's valid for him to post "for the new people". I just think, as a "journalist" his approach to these are delivered in a not so great manner.
We don't have to worry about seeing any more of that, well at least not about me or mentions of my name in a defamatory manner
Now on to my next task at hand. Since this matter is closed to my satisfaction, I wish everyone well and suggest all of you who did not support me in this matter go back to looking at cat gif's or whatever it is that you do here on google+ while I regulate issues publicly for all my intelligent and down to earth followers to enjoy watching from a front row seat.
